Why not try the Christmas band concert?
Our news correspondent Amanda Hurrell who publishes Iwade news in the local press community pages took a trip out to the annual summer band concert. Click on more for her story...

"Being a news correspondent has its benefits, including being invited along to local events. I always look forward to the open air band concert especially if the weather is warm. So off I went, bottle of chilled wine tucked into my straw bag and camping chair over my shoulder! Saturday 2nd July weather didn’t disappoint and was warm and dry, just perfect for the band and audience.

The UK Paper Band entertained the small crowd of residents and guests including Mayor Cllr Ben Stokes and Mayoress Sylvia Bennett. Ben always supports All Saints Church and found time in his hectic schedule to attend. The band started off the evening playing a selection of toe tapping melodies including the 80s hit Baggy Trousers followed by more favourites For Your Eyes Only from the Bond Movie; Broadways Classics; She’s out of My Life by Michael Jackson and Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You from Bridget Jones Diary and then onto Marching Through the Movies closing the first part of the evening.

In the interval a buffet was laid on by the church and included lots of home-made cakes and savouries, which is always excellent. The raffle was drawn with lots of prizes on offer. Tea and coffee were served to the thirsty band members and audience before commencing the second half of the evening’s entertainment with Ticket to Ride, my favourite of the evening followed by When the Saints Come Marching In. The band thanked the church for their hospitality and the audience for attending and making it another memorable evening. I’m looking forward to the next concert in December!"

Thanks Amanda, see you at the Christmas concert!
