Remember the Bearing Fruits Consultation (what was with that name?!), when Iwade was faced with the prospect of more housing? IT'S IMPORTANT YOU READ ON! Swale Borough Council is now going out to consultation on the 'Local Plan, Part 1', which means they will be looking to include most of the land allocations necessary to support the development strategy. Although the Borough Council is preferring not to change its overall strategy and housing development targets from that set out in Bearing Fruits, they comment that there is still enough new material to warrant a further round of public consultation before the plan is finalised, published and formally submitted to Government.

From Monday 19th August 2013 Documents can be viewed at swale-consult.limehouse.co.uk/portal and you can also lodge any comments on this page.
This consultation is important as it refers to future housing proposals for Swale. and this could have an impact on Iwade Village. More worrying, Planning Inspector could overturn Swale’s proposals and insist on an increase in the housing number, which in real terms could mean more housing for Iwade. Please take the time to have a look at the documents and lodge any comments if you have concerns about Iwade being expanded.
You can also click here to read a letter from Swale regarding the consultation if you have not received a letter yourself. Note the closing date is 30th September 2013. Put a reminder in your diary if you want to comment.
