Edward, a pupil at King’s School, Rochester, (the oldest chorister school in the world) has already landed radio and TV appearances and recording deals after receiving the accolade from broadcaster Diane Louise Jordan. Edward was ‘crowned’ BBC Chorister of the Year on Monday 24th October 2016 and has a very busy year ahead with television and radio broadcasts for BBC1, BBC2 and for Radio 2, 3 and 4.

His rendition of I Vow to Thee My Country and Be Thou My Vision overwhelmed the judges at the finals at Manchester Cathedral.

Proud parents Sophie (a singing teacher) and Phill (a professional trombone player), who were in the audience, said it was “immensely emotional”. Sophie said: “Edward has always loved singing. When he came on to the stage, he was at home. People don’t realise the tremendous amount of work and commitment you have to do to be a chorister. These are professional musicians performing to a professional standard at a tender age.”

Music has always been a huge part of Edward’s life having been surrounded by music from a very young age. He has enjoyed tours with the cathedral choir and will be touring Malta and Gozo in 2017 as part of the Victoria Arts Festival. As well as live broadcasts on Radio 3 and other BBC stations he has sung on three cd’s with the choir and has performed in the most amazing venues including Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club with James Taylor for the launch of his most recent album featuring the choir.

As well as a passion for singing he has been playing the trombone since the age of 8 and won a place to study at the Junior Royal Academy of Music in 2016. Edward has been successful in gaining places for the last two years in the National Childrens Orchestra of Great Britain and was a finalist in the Woodard Young Musician of the year performing at the acclaimed St Johns Smith Square in London.
